Progress...Slow and Sure

Finally some work is getting done at Shangri La Ti Da again.  We had to hire a contractor to do the high up parts over the lower tin roof because we just don't have the equipment to get up there without hurting the roof....contractors are a whole new kind of frustration, but it will be done soon...well, their part will be...maybe as soon as Monday!

Let's start here.

This is the first of nearly 325 of these that need painted.

I've done 25 and we are waiting for more.  These are the battens
for the board and batten finish on part of the house.

The upstairs door that will open onto an upstairs
screened in porch!  So looking forward
to that....

Still have massive painting to do, but that can wait
until they go away.  See the one piece that is all done?
Needing a LONG roller stick thingy.

SCALLOPS!  And we're not talking seafood.

And more scallops and there will be some on the
other end of the yellow part, too.

In an effort to make my mowing a little easier, I decided to mulch around things that were hard to mow around.  15 bags of mulch later, I am sure hoping that it does indeed make the mowing easier.
And here are these cute new gloves....that I didn't wear.
Fingernails won't be the same for some time.
I just don't like to wear them, but I should.  Got one
sliced finger from some tough grass I was
trying to pull.  ouch.

The shed, aka, practice house, we built 3
summers ago...with a lovely skirt of mulch.

The Orchard.
With mulch and a bottle of really stinky stuff
to keep the deer from eating the leaves...
which they did the first night we put the
new tree (in the middle) out there.

And last, but not least, my new yard art!
An older gentleman on the way out to La Ti Da
makes these and has them all over his yard.

I just needed one.  Bet my neighbors are glad!

Everyone needs a little whimsy, right?

The pictures are showing progress for sure. I know it gets frustrating at times but it will be SO worth it! The mulch looks great. As always I am indeed impressed.

Your place looks lovely, but not your hands....gloves are good ;-)

I think you painted that one sheet that looks finished already....thanks!

I wore the gloves the 2nd day of mulching, but because they were just cloth it was still messy as soon as they got wet....but, no more cuts. :-)

LOVE the whimsical yard art, Donna!! The house is coming along!! There is always SO MUCH work... seems to multiply while you are doing it. ;) Your yard and mulching look great. I finally started wearing gloves a couple of years ago... your nails STILL get the dirt treatment. LOL!

That Hoot Hat pattern is on Ravelry (had to go look; I bought it in a yarn shop). Stinking thing is VERY expensive and difficult to follow! NOT highly recommending it. I do have to make another one for my other grandson and a couple for gifts to justify buying it!! A total grandmother impulse buy. ;)

Blessings and hugs ~ tanna

Thanks for the encouragement, Tanna...and the warning! Hoot Hat is cute, but not worth the stress for me, since I am not nearly as talented as you. Hugs to you for being such a good grandmother!

Wow - such progress! Your house is looking much more finished than ours is. And we've been moved back in for 3 years.

I've got a little one sleepimg in my arms. Am one-handed typing.

But I gotta say, I love your scallops. And your whimsy.

Really? I guess I haven't ever seen a shot of the outside or your house, but the inside always looks so warm and cozy...just like I want mine to one day. It is just so expensive and I am wondering if I will hate that I took the more economical route later on...hope not.

I might have to decide whether I want my interior finished the way I have it pictured or whether I want the furniture I want....

Look at you go! I love yellow houses!! I love that you are doing scallops and yellow! Sunshine and happiness!

Your hands look like mine! Hands that are not idle... :D

Yellow makes me happy, too!
My hands now have no fingernails...trimmed them down to almost nothing so stuff can't get under them...at least not as much stuff.

Yep. I'm hopefully out of touch. SCALLOPS!! I LOVE THEM. And stinky stuff for leaves. We once in a while have deer, but they have enough leaves to leave my pear tree alone. Contractors are a pain - or can be - but they're the best thing for the scary work. I WANT A SCREENED IN PORCH. It's look'in so good.

As we get closer and closer to the end of this part I keep seeing the things that still need done instead of all that is done. This is a curse and it is weighing me down.
Contractors should be done tomorrow! I know, famous last words....
