THE HAT...the Seussical Hat!

Here it is all finished...even though I stayed way late at my lesson!  I just couldn't leave while I was that close to being finished....nice teacher!
Do you see why I call it a Seussical hat?
My little husband looks even better in this nonsense than me, but he's not home for a photo!  There is still a little snow on the ground even though we are pushing 45 degrees, so people don't think I am completely coco puffs!  Right?

Now, for you knitters, here are some closer up shots so you can see how I did....

See the nice point on top?  Still undecided about the pom pom...might have to come off...so the point is more visible....
See how cool it looks where I had to decrease to get to the nice point?

And just the sheer fluffiness of it all.  It is warm and fluffy and outrageous....what's not to like?

Am I ready for an easy cardigan?  Suggestions?  Something plain so I can embellish with some of my woolliness...flowers, sheep, polka spots????

Kristen, (and anyone else who knows) which is the easiest animal to start with?

So there.  Ta Da!

Ooooo, make a scarf! I would love some fluffiness to play with! Haha...It's beautiful. I can't wait to see it in person. :)

First of all, wow - NICE eyes, Donna!!! Second, YOU MADE A CRAZY FLUFFY HAT! I was, of course, expecting the point, but I was not expecting the fabulous fluff. I LOVE the unexpected. You have done beautifully. The colours are wonderful and look at how it matches your scarf. I am deeply impressed. I didn't attempt a hat knit in the round until I was something like SIX years into knitting. See how you rock?

I'm wearing it to Zumba tonight just so you can see and touch!

LOVE IT, Donna!! That is a GREAT hat! Congratulations on your first hat! You did a wonderful job! There is a weekend cardi that is a free pattern on LionBrand.com that is really easy and really nice (you can make it longer, but I love to layer it).

Yes, the boys photos and e-mail DID make my day!! ;)

Thanks, Tanna....I signed up at Lion Brand and looked at the pattern. It does look pretty easy. I'll have to check with my teacher to see if she is brave enough to get me through something that big. I got the hat pattern from ravelry.com and it doesn't look the same at all. It's called Fuzzy Little Shapka, but theirs is not nearly as fuzzy as mine!

It wasn't quite as fuzzy in the pictures. I was really looking for something a little more like the hat in your header...might try the next one without the fluffiness....just so you can see it growing to that point easier....might do.
And thanks...I like my eyes, too.
So, what cardigan kind of thingy should I try? Does your stripy one come in big people sizes? Is it easy enough for me?

Actually, I think a sheep done just this way would be just the ticket. Fabulous. And I'm with Wabi on the eyes. WOO_HOO!! What a swell job well done. EVERYTHING to love. Including the pom on the top. You have made me grin. And that will undoubtedly make me sleep. YAY! I wanna see a full-sized shot with the fuzz on top.

GASP!!! THAT!!! IS!!! FANTASTIC!!!! You have GOT to keep on the pom pom. That hat would make anyone's day. Both the wearer and those who saw it! Oh my gracious that hat is fabulous!

Well done Donna!!

You know as well as I do, that not everyone could (or is that would) wear this hat, but I do believe that you and I can carry it off without a hitch!

That picture above is one of those where I was taking the picture and they never work for me really. I will try to get my little husband to take one and then what will I do? Add it above or can I put it in a comment?
So, a sheep from Linda's patterns?

Well, I don't know, but we do try to have fun AND learn!

It's funny because really only one of my eyes are blue. The other is more green. Wish the picture would show that....

I absolutely love it! Your first knitted project is absolutely amazing! No boring flat objects for you, straight to a fun shaped hat! Can't wait to see what is next!

Thanks! I'm thinking of a simple cardigan and a sheep!

Rachel said...

You could use tooth picks as knitting needles. :D
