Rich and Lynda go to church with me. They are two of my heroes. This weekend we got to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with them....50 years! That's just one of the reasons they are heroes to me. They are smart and kind and generous and funny...they live the faith they profess! See? Heroes.
See how happy they are?
Rich is a printer and he reprinted EXACTLY, on the very same press, the wedding invitations from 50 years ago, along with their love story beginnings. Their two sweet daughters took care of all the decorations and favors...usually it is snowy in February in our part of the world, so we got beautiful golden snowflakes.
Beautiful cake and when Lynda got her 18 choices narrowed down to 2 the baker chef told her not to worry...one layer was chocolate and one was lemon!
The party was held at the Greenbrier, WV's most famous resort. It's pretty dang fancy.
Here they are with their personalized Wooliness....
...and here it is up close. It is one of my new favorites. See how they are looking lovingly at each other. Well, Lynda lovingly and maybe Rich a little surprised that she would look at him that way. Surprised and happy!
My little husband and I all cleaned up. I did the math and we will be 93 and 99 when it is time for our 50th! I'm thinking we will celebrate that one in Heaven!
Love...find it and hold on!

Rachel, I was trying to delete my reply to your comment, not your comment! I hate it when technology gets the better of me! Sorry.
I'm glad you love my Love Birds. They are one of my most favorite of all times. Do we have to wait until your 50th anniversary?
You were just a baby when you got married! But, your aren's a spoiled brat...are you? Nah. 'Course not.
Sorry again about deleting you. :-(
50 years is quite an achievement these days. It looks like it was a lovely do. My parents just celebrated their 50th but they just had a small dinner with my brother and his wife in London as they were traveling at the time and don't like a fuss anyway. I think my cousins may have gone up for a visit too? Love your little owls they are so 'In Love'
Donna, y'all cleaned up really well, as we say down here. ;) Fifty years is amazing. I love the art you made for your friends!! Perfect... heart... and wise owls... And, I appreciate your advice on love. Couldn't agree more. blessings ~ tanna
The beard trim - magnificent! And you both look very happy, too - and very cleaned up. And beautiful. My parents ran away together on their 50th, but G's parents were thrown this kind of party. This year will be our 34th. We married a little bit late. But I was in my last year of teaching too - so you and I - we harmonize! I adore the woolie. I hate it when people ask me: "Where do you get your ideas?" What kind of an answer can you give, "The Sears catalogue?" But I look at that composition, and the character and the detail and textures, and I know that that picture could never come springing out of the head of this girl (moi). It's delicious and sweet and engaging - and just like you. And here I will make a statement boldly: I believe it's because of the fact that they live their faith that they still love each other and are so happy. You can't do that just out of the air - or if you are the kind of person who does not practice what you believe - or if you have no moral compass. Only faith in the living God is strong enough to keep our heads not only above water, but clear and selfless and determined and dedicated. At least, in my life experience, that is what I've seen and felt. It is the key to joy.
Kristen, it had been a very long time since I had seen my little husband in a jacket and tie..he looks pretty good. Can't convince him that he looks so much younger with the shorter beard...
Thanks for loving my Love Birds....it was last minute as I was waiting to know what to make for them. I saw a drawing that gave me a spark and then they took on their own life...I love the eyes. The eyes always cement the personality, I think.
God is the key to Joy, the source and the continuation...
If you got married a little late, I was REALLY late! But perfectly on time for us...we are only at 13 this year.
Thanks, Jenni....
Tanna, we say y'all around here, too! 50 years is certainly worth celebrating!
Donna, what a heart warming post! Everyone looks so happy and in love. Your gift is perfect and I am still chuckling about what they are saying (the love birds) with their eyes.
Hugs!
What a testimony to love! And you too looked quite fabulous. Don't go trying to make assumptions about God's timing. He may just have a little joke up his sleeve and you'll be looking just like those love birds at 93 and 99!!
Blessings, Debbie
This post is wonderful, Donna! Bright and happy. But I'm with Debbie, here - you may well be having an earthly 50th celebration. And YOU'LL be making the woolie party favours that will charm everyone's socks off.
You two look FAB, and every bit as deeply in love as your blessed friends.
LOVE that woolie creation of yours!
I'm so glad you can 'hear' the conversation, too!
Well, Debbie and WSW, I won't be too picky about where it is celebrated! I'll be thinking about what those woolie favors should be!
