Sprung Spring? Or Not.

In honor of the springing of Spring, my newly acquired knitting skills and my general love for all things lambkin, I completed my first knitted creature.

Hi!  Wanna play?

Her name is Hope.
As in Springs Eternal....

And while Hope is springing eternal, the season is still a bit waffly....this is what I found on my car this morning.

Yes, my little husband loves me!  And I love the little ways he shows me....

So, today was cold and snowy and blowy, but by Wednesday it will be in the 60s again....yep, that's pretty much the springing of Spring in this neck of the woods.

67 degrees here today - evidently. that's what they told us as we flew over the mountains toward home. Tomorrow, it's supposed to drop twenty degrees and snow. Glad we weren't around for the heat wave (sigh). We're tired, tired, tired. But glad we could go. And here I come home to see you're EXCELLENT SHEEPY. I am all over delighted with him - cute widdle ears, and lovely ribbon!! YAY. You did great, great, great!!

Here we go! Here's the comment box. Wonder why it wasn't here earlier.....Anyhoo, here's my comment. :D

Your sheepy looks great!! Look at you go! You're a knittin' animal! (Falls off chair laughing at horrid pun).

Today was close to 70 degrees! My morning was hectic and full of running around. This afternoon I plunked myself down on my front porch with a crappy book (major disappointment) and read whilst I got nice and sun burnt! The rest of the week it is supposed to get crummy and cold again. I will be brave with my sun burn as we weather this next storm. I will weather it with a glow..... (Me thinks I need to go to bed. The puns are getting worse).

Your heart made me smile. That is something The SM would do for me and often does in the fog on the bathroom mirror. He'll write secret messages that will show up after I've showered and fogged up the mirror. Good men. Our husbands.

Can't wait to see what you knit next! :D

Glad you are home safe and sound! Hope has little felt ears and tail. I am not so good at following directions exactly. Now, I need to make another 3 or 7 more! Wondering if I use smaller needles/yarn will I get smaller lamb? Or just knit tighter?

Sorry your book was ick. But, do you find that you must keep reading it, hoping it will turn around and redeem itself? I'll admit I don't read as carefully as usual, but I do usually finish....just in case.

OK. I have been sitting here for way too long trying to think up a punny reply...

Oh, Hope is precious, Donna!! Great job!! Just too cute! And, you hubby is just too sweet. Gotta love a man who does hearts in the frost! blessings ~ Tanna

Thanks, Tanna! I do love those kind of 'just too cute and sweet' days!

Rachel said...

Yup! Smaller needles, smaller yarn, smaller sheepie. :D

Yes! Unless the book is inappropriate. Then I've no problems throwing it away without finishing it. Other wise yes, I keep wading through hoping..... this one didn't redeem itself. Not at all and Kristen will be thrilled as it is an author she doesn't like. :) Now she can say, "I told you so"!

It's early, I've a headache, and Levi wants a 'big egg' meaning an omelet. Not feeling punny at this hour either........

Oh, right on that...I have even gotten up and left a movie or two that was just too much! I have been picking books very scientifically lately...what's free on Kindle! Last one was a pretty good story but not very well written.
Better luck next time with your book....
I have recently read and loved Nancy Rue's Reluctant Prophet series...I like normal people making a difference in their world books. I haven't checked your reading list lately...better go and do that.

Donna said...

Ooops. PS. So sorry you have a headache and a hungry boy child at the same time....

Rachel said...

Me too with the movies!

I'll have to look into the Nancy Rue series. Sounds interesting. Right now I am reading, "Moon Over Manifest" by Clare Vanderpool and really liking it!

P.S. I survived....... thanks to Motrin. Oh where would I be in this world without Motrin. :)

Ok.. I will have to try that....

You rock Donna... have I said that before? You are so brave! I knitted dishcloths for years before I was confident (I still wasn't confident) that I could take on anything else, and you knit Hope!!

Keep using that if-y weather to further hone your knitting skills. You're on a roll!!

Blessings, Debbie

Adorable, you are a great knitter!

Donna said...

That's how I feel about ibuprofen...is it the same?

Donna said...

OH, no, you are the great knitter...I am a good learner!

Rachel said...

Post photos when you do!!

Rachel said...

Yeah. It's the generic form.

Donna said...

But, of course!

A lamb, you've knit a lovely lamb!!! It took me six years of knitting before I made a creature. Well, not including the bunnies knit out of squares. I mean, they count as creatures, but not really *knit* creatures even though they WERE knit but only in an I'm-not-a-confident-knitter sort of way. Yeah, so - back to YAYing you!

And your husband is darling. Ya wanna know how they communicate in snow in these parts? No, no you don't.

I know, right? I love my little lambie pie. I couldn't knit dish cloths or I would have to do dishes!
I am down to the third button hole on my cardigan that I am knitting and it's time to do something with the arms and putting lots of stitches on giant safety pin thingys....scary!
Thanks for being in my cheering section.
Can I just say yellow snow? :-)
