Opening!

Our local gallery has been showcasing local talent each month and this is my month.  This evening was the official opening.  I set the show up mostly on Wednesday with a few final touches (fresh flowers and a couple of new ornaments) added today.  Oh, and the snacks...can't forget the snacks.  I went with a polka spot theme...doughnut holes and cheese puff balls!  And orange kool-aid!  For those of you who couldn't be there this evening here are some pictures....enjoy!
As you walk in the door, all of my art is on the left.

I love this tree that I use all the time for displaying something.

Pretty flowers and the first basket I ever made holding my cards.

Pictures to the left...with a cloth I hung to brighten up the white walls...

...pictures to the right...don't worry, I'm going to show you up close.

Ladder and kindergarten chairs in the middle.
I have to take photos of the woolies before I frame them,
but you can see above that they are all in black frames.

Do you get it?

Here are a few of the ornaments that they will be able to choose from
when I teach the Christmas ornament class....I got 4 people signed up!

Mistletoe.

This is new thing for me and I used an old wool sweater that I
"felted" in the dryer and I LOVE the soft plushness of it.  In real
life it is a wonderful buttery yellow...

...with a pocket on the back!

I love my snowflake ornaments.

I have done a few of these wearable woolies that are designed
so that you can gently remove the art work, when the child
outgrows the clothes, and frame it...

Baskets were one of my phases
and I still love making them when I have time.
And the snack table!

Best thing of all was this little group of lovelies that I miss...a lot!

And their parents and my Zumba friends and some teacher friends
and even a few people who I didn't even know!

This is not even finished yet, but I love it so much that I had
to give it a showing tonight.  It will be framed...
peace:fall

winter:wonder....coming soon!
spring:renewal
Hmmmm...what for summer?????

So, I hope this helped you feel like you were there.  I still have lots of cheese puff balls if you want me to send you some!

Mmmmmmm...cheese puff balls. And I got it! I got it! The ghost and owl woolie, I mean. Must be all those games the kids and I play.

Donna, your artwork is pure joy! Wooly, warm, witty, and whimsical. WONDERFUL. I wish I could have been there.

And I would SO sign up for the ornament class. I think I'd make the star, or the snowflake. Or the mistletoe. Or the snowman.

peace:fall You ROCK!

Let's go to lunch. you and Wabi and me. And Rachel could come, too. I clicked on every picture because I wanted to feel like I was there. And I loved every single thing and didn't get the owl and ghost - although I thought the ghost's eyes looked a little swimmy - but that's because I'm so tired I'm really, really stupid. And what Wabi said, I second and third. I just love what you do - the character, the joy, the silly cleverness. And the wool. I love all of them and want all of them and think you are wonderful. And so there.

Yea! I am so happy that 2 of my BBFs (best blogging friends) like my whimsy! So, do you think Chicago is sort of centrally located? For lunch?
And Kristen...what does a ghost say? and an owl? Don't cry. teehee! I wish I could tell you the story of each one...from the ideas to the creations....

Congratulations on a very successful and festive opening, Donna! You are very talented! Some of those felt critters cracked me up! They are so stinkin' cute! Well done. blessings ~ tanna

Tanna, I am so glad you got a giggle out of my creatures! They make me laugh, too.

BBFs - you've given me the gift of a new initialism! Or is it txt talk? I am SO not hip. Eldest will confirm this for any doubters. She had to help me turn the television on today.

Okay, Chicago - it'd take me about 14 hours of driving time to get there, so can we make it supper too? A slumber party, maybe?

I love what you do! The cat jumping over the moon is my favorite.. So clever. They are all wonderful!! The picture of you and the little people says so much. You're a beautiful lady Donna!

And you'd better keep your cheese balls. After 4 days of camping... you know.

Blessings, Debbie

Donna,
The gallery has never looked better. Congratulations on such a fantastic show. I wish I could have attended but Miles was enrolled in his first Regatta at Summersville Lake. I was hoping to make it back in time but it didn't happen. When I got there the door was locked.
Would love to receive some comments such as what we got right and what we can improve on.

Thanks, Teje. I'm so happy you like them.
Debbie...Hey Diddle Diddle is a favorite of mine, too...and the cheese balls? Trying to "share" them with anyone who comes to help us build.
Troy...not sure what you want me to comment on. It is a nice venue and I didn't have any trouble getting in and set up. Don't know how to get more people there. Glad you thought it looked nice...me, too. How did Miles do?

WSW, Chicago is only about a 10 hour drive for me, so wonder where the really exact central location for the three or four of us would be???? Supper and a sleep over would be fine.

Donna,
Thanks for asking. Though it was his first race Miles skipped beginner division and raced in the intermediate division where he placed second.
Any comments are useful and will help us serve our artist and patrons better.

Thanks, Lori Ann. I started out with sheep and then went to kitties and now am expanding again, to things like ghosts and owls. I just never know where this is going to take me.
