Garden Posies

There is nothing like fresh picked posies in a pretty purple Fiesta vase to make it almost seem like you cleaned your house....almost....well, if you take the pictures outside....

This is the bamboo forest in our backyard...hoping to find a panda there one day.  Otherwise it is a bit of a bother.

And remember how this blog is called HomeBuilding Countdown?  We are about to make some more progress finally.  My latest 'hunt' has been for window trim.  I have been driving around and looking and looking and taking pictures.  Stevie even took pictures in San Francisco for me.
While waiting for her in Bruceton a week ago, I found these and they are almost exactly what I want and after asking the lady on the porch very nicely, I was able to get up close to take the pictures.

Hopefully, mine will feel old and weathered like this, only mine will have scallops to match the scallopy trim that will be in the gable ends of the house.  The first guy I asked about the scallops wanted to know what seafood had to do with finishing the house....he was kidding, right?  He works at Lowes.

We are getting a quote for the rest of the supplies to finish the outside tall parts and we have a contractor lined up to start on Monday.  Hiring a contractor seemed to be a necessary evil for now.  We just don't have a way to get up over the roof to put the 2nd floor siding on.  Grrrr.

Might be a little bit excited again, but need to get the siding and the trim all painted between now and then....back on task!

Who wants to paint?

Ooooh - I'll help paint! There are some minor logistical issues to sort out though. And you made me laugh with the "...if you take your pictures outside." I hear ya, sister!

That window trim is gorgeous. Full of character.

I love that trim!! In the old farm house I grew up in, it had cool trim around the windows.

I love old homes. New houses just do not seem to have the fun details that older homes have. I think it is neat that you are adding these details to your new home.

The flowers are beautiful!!! My Peonies look amazing right now. I should take pictures before their petals all end up on the ground, which some are already doing..........

It's always in the logistics! Phooey! Outside...I don't have to dust there!
Can't wait to see my windows with character!

Oh, me! I'll paint! I live close, and I even like to do it. Service with a joyful heart!

The flowers really are beautiful. ;D

Peonies may be my all time favorite flower....the lushness, the smell, the colors. These flowers went today to live with a sweet friend who is going through a bit of a sad/scary time right now....simple gifts full of love....

My poor little husband thinks I am crazy when I try to explain to him that I want our brand new home to look about 100 years old before we move in...

Today I bought 2 old suitcases to store things in and stack up....

Might need you this weekend! Waiting on the Lowe's guy to get it ordered and delivered.....grrrr.
Glad the flowers found a good home.

This is exciting! You are choosing the fussies. I absolutely LOVE the trim and can't wait to see this dollhouse finished. :)

Blessings, Debbie

Yeah, you and me both, Debbie! So many choices to make....I hope it matches what I see in my heart eventually.

Me and paint! That trim is vintage Utah - pioneer stuff. love it. So many choices - luxury decisions! But work, nonetheless.

I love that - you want it to look 100 years old before you move in!

Donna said...

That is interesting....luxury decisions...it is work. I look and look and look and finally decide something and then because it doesn't happen fast enough I decide something else and my little husband is all like, "but I thought you wanted..." Yes, I DID, but now, I want.....

And really all of it is just stuff and the truth of the matter is that I can nest anywhere and make any space my own. Really.

Yes, the flooring guy is my next target. I want something that looks like old pine boards, that will nick and dent...but still be flat so that the dropped peas don't roll across the room. Oh, wait, that will be hard to check because the Mercy girl will eat them before they get to roll!

Hee hee - my husband thinks the same thing about my wanting the new part of the house to be finished "old". 100 years old. I want to reuse the old cupped wood flooring from the summer kitchen for the new mudroom, and I don't want to refinish it. Or if we have to put in new flooring, I want to beat it up so that it looks old.

Our husbands would have a good conversation together.

I'm with you, sister! And perhaps our husbands should form a little therapy/support group.....
