Mother's Day

This is without a doubt my least favorite holiday of the year.  Always I wanted to be a mother and it just wasn't to be.  Most of the time I can convince myself that I have 'mothered' many over the years in my teaching career....but, this day, all I feel is the empty places.

But, I have a wonderful mother in law who always sends me a Mother's Day card...the only ones I have ever gotten.   She reminds me that I have mothered...

I know what this is even before I open it.
She knows that I love cute animals.

Pretty flowers.

She loves me....and I love her.

...And the empty is a bit filled up.

Another Mother's Day.  Hope yours was full.

Sending {{{big hugs}}} and belated mother's day wishes for you, dear Donna. It is so apparent that you have mothered and blessed so many more lives than most "mothers" ever do. Your mother-in-law is a fine woman to recognize that. blessings and hugs ~ tanna

Mother's day blessings to you, Donna. Your mother-in-law is a wise woman. You really *have* mothered so many. One of my favourite quotes (who the heck said it, I wonder) is about how becoming a mother is not an event, but a process. And you, my friend, have a whole beautiful career of process under your belt.

Hugs...

Tanna, thanks so much! My MIL is a keeper...and she raised a fine son, too!
Wondering if you got to see any of your little men this weekend? Hope it was wonderful in any case...

WSW, becoming is the key word isn't it? If you ever get to the place where you think that you 'are', then you have surely blocked off great chunks of possibilities and ever more becoming. Hope your day just got better from the french toast breakfast onward!

Amen.

And it was cinammon toast :-) Everyone else was gone by 7:00 a.m., so Middling was left to craft the breakfast herself. Unsupervised, french toast is a little out of her league. It actually turned into a picnic in bed, with Middling and Littlest. It was PERFECT, though I missed the others.

Oh Donna! What a sweet mother in law!

Sometimes, even with kids, Mother's Day can leave you feeling empty and in tears......

I'm looking forward to next years being better...!!

Seems like any celebration has the potential to leave you like that, right? But the good ones are worth the less good ones mostly.

Very true! Very very true! Thank goodness they are mostly always good so that when I do have a bad one...... I get over it quick. :D

No, Donna... didn't get to see any kids or grands... but, my daughter did try to make me have the best of it without them. thank you for asking. I can tell your MIL did a fine job raising her son! And, I can't think of anyone who, as a mother, you would rather have be your son's bride than you. Winners all around!! blessings ~ tanna

You are a mother....you have fur babies and they take just as much loving as kids. There love is unconditional as well which is a bonus! I hear what you are saying though and send you a big hug, your MIL is lovely isn't she xx

Jenni, there are the fur babies...we always have a houseful of them and often comment on how much easier they are than non-fur babies!

I got to cry today, too. One of my kids that I have been tutoring all year, a 5th grade girl, made me a 'Moter's Day" card (yeah, we worked on reading more than speilling) and said the nicest things about how I helped her grow up this year and make good decisions. That's a keeper.
Thanks....
